Arrival

Taylor Loyd Bridgewater State University Field School Day 2 at FACRP

The energy of the space that Akilah and her family, and the members of FACRP, have created is hard to describe with words. The welcoming I received upon arrival, and the welcoming I continue to receive as I meet more of the community members, was so warm and genuine – something which should never be undervalued by any person looking to become part of a community for any length of time. My experience in this community has just begun and it is already shaping my existence more than I could have predicted. FACRP is more than a model of environmental and cultural sustainability; it is a grounding space of creation and collaboration, of strong women and men, of learning and teaching, and of love. I’m very excited to discover what the next four weeks will bring for me and what I can do for FACRP and the surrounding community while I’m here.
